IB Diploma examinations at Felix-Klein-Gymnasium Goettingen

Unlike in the German school system the IB Diploma Programme results depend to a higher degree on the outcome of the final written examinations in May. The papers of these examinations in six subjects plus several non-exam requirements that have to be submitted before the examinations proper are externally assessed by trained IB examiners.

Each subject also features specific elements that are internally assessed by the teacher here at FKG. The grades awarded here, can be moderated by an IB examiner, however, to guarantee the same standards worldwide. It is true, in the IBDP students cannot accumulate marks over two years to become part of the final assessment, but on the other hand the greater significance of the final examinations offers the opportunity to reach higher marks in the case of a rather poor beginning, provided there is considerable improvement.
