Eating and Drinking
Food and Beverages at FKG
If you don't have any cancellation of any class your normal school day at Felix-Klein-Gymnasium starts at 7:50 am and ends either at 1:05 pm or if you have a longer day at 3:20 pm or even 4:10 pm. Therefore there is a lot of time to get hungry or thirsty and have the necessity to eat or drink something. If you don't want to bring or forget to bring something to eat or drink you can also get both in school. There are four basic places from where the students at our school get their food and beverages: the kiosk (for different candies, a variety of sandwiches and a few drinks such as water and apple juice), the canteen / refectory (for a proper meal), the water dispenser and two bakeries (for some sandwiches, coffees ...) next to the school.
If you don't want to get food in the two breaks of 20 minutes or in the bigger one of 45 minutes (lunch break from 1:05 pm to 1:50 pm) at school, you can also get something in the city in consideration of the fact that you have to be back on time for the next class.
Canteen / Refectory
The canteen / refectory is open (from Monday to Friday) from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
One meal costs about 4€.
You can decide between a non-vegetarian or a vegetarian meal → one meal consists of a main dish, additional side-dish, salat from a buffet, a dessert (either a yoghurt or a fruit such as a banana) and free water.
You have to make a reservation online for the food → there, you can either place an order daily or for a longer time-period (one week for 5 meals, one month for 20 meals ...).
You can take a look at the weekly menu on this homepage (→ go to Service/ Formulare → go to "Mensa")
The food of the FKG cafeteria / refectory is cooked fresh every day in another school called "Georg-Christoph-Lichtenberg-Gesamtschule Göttingen (IGS)", then sent to our school and finally set up.
Bakery
The bakery next door is open from Monday to Saturday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm,
and on Sundays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Water Dispenser
The school has placed a water dispenser with free water at school members' disposal, but only for every person who buys an "FKG water bottle", as the water dispenser only works with the chip installed in the bottom of every water bottle. The cost contribute to paying for the expensive equipment necessary to provide really hygienic water. Purchase and installation of the water fountain have only been possible with the help of Förderkreis des Felix-Klein-Gymnasiums.
