1 What are the advantages of the IB for studying abroad?
The IB develops your command over the English language, which will come in
handy when studying abroad. This schooling system also requires students to
learn to study independently. International universities across the world
accept the IB and you are eligible to get a scholarship, depending on your
grade level, of course. Many universities favour IB Diplomas for several

does it cost?
The total book cost comes up to around 600 euros and the examination fees at
the end of the 12th grade come up to another 600 euros. In total the
amount for the IB to be payed is 1200 euros.
3 How long
does the IB take?
The IB is a 2-year course, namely grades 11 and 12.
4 Can you
study in Germany with the IB?
Yes, however, under certain conditions only:
Proficiency in German, one needs to at least study German B HL to be admitted
to a German University however some Universities may still require one to write
an additional German exam such as the DSH ( en.dsh-germany.com ). Please find

6 How are you
graded in the IB?
For each of the 6 subjects taken you can be awarded a maximum of 7 points, this
makes a total of 42 points available; another 3 extra points can be awarded for
your Extended Essay und Theory of Knowledge.
What does a
normal school day look like?
7 Class begins at 7:50, each class lasts
for about 90 minutes, a normal school day ends at around 15: 20, during the day
there are plenty of breaks and time to study on your own or visit the library.
8 What happens
if you fail the IB Diploma?
If a minimum of 24 points are not achieved the student will be given the
opportunity to re-write the exams in November or in the following year. FKG
does not have exams in November, however.
9 How can the
school be reached by public transport?
Bus and train, the train station is about 15 minutes away from school on foot.
10 What is the
maximum class size?
25, however on average classes hardly ever exceed 15 pupils.
11 How often
are report cards given out to students?
A report card is given out at the end of each semester, therefore twice a year
a report card is issued.
12 Do students
wear uniform or have some sort of dress code?
No. Since this is a state-funded school, pupils are not given uniforms nor do
they have to comply with any dress code, however it is appreciated to see
children wearing school appropriate clothing.

English A HL, German A HL/SL, German B HL. If enough students opt for Spanish
and / or French then these subjects can also be offered at the B HL/SL level.
